Local activist Deric Muhammad and Lone Star Community College will host the third annual Smart’N Up Black Male Summit on Education. It takes place Saturday, Nov. 17, at Lone Star Victory Center, 4141 Victory Drive. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and workshops begin at 10 a.m.
The purpose of the event is to inspire and encourage Black males to pursue knowledge inside and outside the classroom, and address the drop-out rate among minority male students. It will feature motivational speakers, on-site mentors, and GED and college entrance information.
