HABJ CELEBRATES THE NEW YEAR……..Houston Chronicle fashion editor Joy Sewing and the Houston Association of Black Journalists regional director Cindy George hosted a holiday party to start the new year off right.

Joy’s long-time friend and the National Association of Black Journalist president Kathy Times was in town, so what better way to celebrate than to have a party?  “So many of us have been displaced and downsized we don’t often get the opportunity to talk and laugh with each other in relaxed environment,” said Kathy Times. “Houston has so many talented journalists and it was great to meet many of them that night.”

More than 60 journalists, friends and several students from HABJ’s student chapter at the University of Houston were in attendance.  By the way, Joy started the student chapter, but wouldn’t give us the year.  In the mix were HABJ president Mary Benton, Reginald and Rhonda Radford-Adams, James and Shannon Buggs-Harrison, Wayne and Pat Luckett, Adria Tillman, Paul Charles, Jackie Adams, Tanya Robertson, Isiah Carey, Kijana Wiseman, Gayla Belay-Iyamu, Jon Sewing and Rick Sims, to name a few.  The evening featured a performance by local singer and college student Devin Walker.

Great Party!
