Wanting to poke fun at rumors, Queem Latifah decided not to go that route. For a second, Queen Latifah thought about stirring the pot by naming her upcoming album “The L Word,” the title of Showtime’s original series about a group of lesbian friends living in Los Angeles.

For years, the entertainer has faced steady gossip that she’s in the closet. She told Rolling Stone that she flirted with the idea of setting the rumor mill on fire with “The L Word” title.

“Since people want to play games, I like to jab back sometimes just for fun, but I’m like, ‘Nah, that’s too much energy wasted,’” she told RollingStone.com.

The as-yet-unnamed LP is set for release in December.
